‘Slum Dogs of India’ or ‘Slum Dogs– Vies de chiens en Inde’ was released in September 2009 by Merrell publishers and Editions Place des Victoires respectively. The book contains over 150 colour photographs of the stray dogs found on virtually every street corner of the subcontinent. It came about after a year long trip through India in 2007/2008. The photos in Slum Dogs capture the unique spirit and colour that dogs bring to India, depicting their relationship with the humans around them, each other, and the landscape in which they live.
The book also addresses issues surrounding the stray dog population, with text from myself as well as Rachel Wright, founder of the charity TOLFA (Tree of Life for Animals), an organisation which I became involved with during my trip, and have since become a trustee for. TOLFA treats, neuters and vaccinates owned (often working animals) as well as owner-less (stray dogs and cows predominantly) at its hospital/shelter located near Pushkar in Rajasthan, India. A portion from the sale of each copy of Slum Dogs will be donated to the charity, and will go directly to benefiting the animals in its care.
The book is available to buy from AMAZON and other large online and high-street retailers. It is also available to order from your local, independent bookshop. Support your local bookseller!
The images from this project are currently being exhibited at galleries nationwide, details of which may be found in the NEWS section of this site. All images from the book are available to buy in sizes ranging from 10″ x 8″ to 21“x14”.
Your giclee print will arrive on high quality, archival paper and will be signed and numbered. Each image is one in an edition of 100.
